Coronavirus Contruction Update – 21 September 2021
I am absolutely devastated to confirm that all building sites in Metropolitan Melbourne and any other municipalities currently in lockdown are closed from 12am today for a two-week period (unless brought out of lockdown earlier) due to widespread non-compliance in our industry. This shutdown will not impact the construction industry supply chain & construction manufacturing businesses will remain open during this time.
It is expected that this shut down will end on Tuesday, 5 October.
There will be an exemption to attend building sites in your region to make them safe or for emergency repair works.
As indicated above, regional building sites will remain unaffected from this shutdown, but the existing restrictions on site remain in place. Unfortunately, the current prohibition on workers traveling between Metro & Regional remains in place and will continue at least for the shutdown period.
We have been advised that for job sites to reopen, all workers must be vaccinated and all Covid Safe protocols must be in place.
Please know we are simply passing on this information and this is honestly a very difficult thing to do and I am struggling with it.
