Elite Building Services Gippsland Backyard Blitz with our friends at Open Homes Australia – Part 2
The Big Reveal!!
In July 2020, in between lockdowns, we were fortunate enough to travel to Lakes Entrance in Gippsland Victoria to help out a beautiful and selfless family with their passion project.
Melon’s Cottage has been renovated by Pete & Jodie for over 8 years after they tragically lost their son, Eli, to cancer when he was only 13 months old. They created this haven for families who are going through a similar experience to offer somewhere for them to spend some beautiful time together during the most difficult time of their lives. Jodie had planned on completing the backyard renovation over the next 2.5 years. We snuck in – unbeknownst to her – and did it in a day!
This is Part 2 to the Melon’s Cottage Backyard Blitz with our wonderful friends Bessie, James, Adam and Sam from Open Homes Australia and with Matt from Elevate Building Group doing the carpentry and Franklin Landscape & Design on board, together with the most amazing crew of volunteers imaginable and Bek as the Project Manager with Elite as the Builder, we were going to smash it out of the park.
Thank you to everyone involved – I can honestly say that these people are an incredible bunch of humans that I am grateful to have met and I am so proud to have been involved in this one. It’s something I’ll never forget. To be able to help Pete & Jodie bring their dream to life (to be able to provide this haven to help others) is something I feel privileged to have been a part of. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
